We are located in an 1850's historic building at 65 Main Street in downtown Belfast, within walking distance to the harbor, fine shops, galleries and restaurants. Located in mid-coast Maine, on spectacular Penobscot Bay, Belfast is renowned for its historic buildings, fine architecture and old sea captain's homes; its working waterfront and unspoiled character.
In addition to original work by Celene Farris and Louis Masciovecchio, our two-storied gallery offers the work of over 25 Maine artists in a variety of mediums: watercolor, oil, graphite, charcoal, pen & ink, acrylic, photography, stone, fabric, wood and clay. We also offer prints and note cards.
We are very proud to note that our gallery was voted one of the best art galleries in Waldo County, Maine, by The Citizen's "Best of the Best Readers Poll" in 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010.
An exciting addition to our gallery is The Aina Moja Shop, a project of Expanding Opportunities, a non-profit organization supporting African artisans from Kenya, The Street Children Fund and other Kenyan charities. Offering a unique display of handcrafted, one-of-a-kind, native African art created in Kenya, Africa by native artisans - wood & soapstone animals, carvings, masks, clothing, jewelry, baskets, decorative items and much more.
The Aina Moja Shop also offers fine embroidery and other exotic items handcrafted by the Shipibo Tribe of Peru and luxurious bamboo silk scarves hand-woven in Ecuador.
The next time you visit Belfast, please stop in. You just might find that certain piece of art that touches your soul.
